The Huline Temple is a location in Lands of Lore: Guardians of Destiny.

  • Level 1 locations
  1. Entrance
  2. Teleportation Altar - place a portion of Aloe and Poison Paint in the chalices to raise a stone alter. Drag the Caretaker's body here and it will be teleported to the lower level
  3. Statuette room - opened by a button in the library (6). Placing the Statuette in the empty wall slot reveals a Crystal Shard
  4. Chapel - placing Aloe and Poison Paint in the chalices makes a light appear and reveals passage A to the cellars, if it is not already open
  5. Healing Pool - the pedestal contains a Crystal Shard , that opens passage A when taken away
  6. Library - one bookshelf hides a cache of Fire Crystals (to be confirmed), and on top of another is an Ancient's Stone, which you will reach by moving benches or by jumping and timing the pickup correctly. Passage C is closed off until opened from the other side. A button in the southeast corner opens the Statuette room.
  7. Priest's Room - activate the bed posts or touch the wall to reveal a secret room containing an Ancient's Stone and Coco's Cap; passage C, first accessible only in lizard form, can be partly opened up by lighting the candle and hanging lamps and clicking on the quill pen, and fully by also pressing button inside the passage
  8. Altars of Life and Death - kneel (i.e. crouch down) before the two statues to receive a portion of Aloe and Poison Paint, along with the Cat Ring
  9. Aloe Room - activating the button will release water and cause an Aloe plant to sprout
  10. Dorm containing Plate Mail Breastplate
  11. Dorm containing Lightning Crystal
  12. Kitchen - a Throwing Dagger can be found under one of the tables. The kettle can be sparked, afterwards drinking from it will restore Luther's health
  13. Altar of Balance - place two Crystal Shards in both bowls to open the back wall
  14. Spiral Staircase - place the Dreamstone in the stand to activate

Level 1 passages

  • A. Connects the healing pool to the cellars - destroying the pillars will close off the passage
  • B. Stairwell passage from the cellars - one-way; the ledge to the cellar is too high to jump
  • C. Connects the Priest's room to the library
  • D. Connects the kitchen to the cellars - closed off until a spider bashes through the wall
  • E. Connects the priest's room to the cellars - it is opened from below
  • F. Connects the spiral staircase to the cellars - it is opened by activating the stairs at 14
  • G. Connects the main temple complex to the Path of Trails

Level 2 locations

  • 15. Coffins - one contains an Iron Flute
  • 16. Teleportation spot - the Caretaker's body was transported here from 2
  • 17. First Machine
  • 18. Second Machine

Level 2 passages

  • A. Connects the cellars to the healing pool
  • B. Stairwell passage to the library - one-way; the ledge back to the cellar is too high to jump
  • D. Connects the cellars to the kitchen - closed off if you didn't visit the kitchen yet
  • E. Connects the cellars to the priest's room - it is opened by a button on the wall where passage A crosses this one on the map
  • F. Connects the cellars to the spiral staircase - closed off if the stairs aren't yet in place
  • H. Hallway of fire - search behind the six cat panels to find a 2 Summoning Scrolls, 2 Prism Scrolls and 2 Mists of Doom Scrolls. Normally the second and third pair of panels close, but playing the Iron Flute keeps them open, as well disarming the fireball canons at 21. It also closes the niches at 19 and 20; to reopen them, play the flute again.

Level 3 locations

  • 19. Niche containing a Storm Crystal
  • 20. Niche containing a flame that disappears on touch, having no further use
  • 21. Fireball cannons
  • 22. Spawning area - Hive Guardian spawn here at a rate of 4 to 7 per minute at irregular intervals. Throwing Stone Cubes or Ice Seeds can close off the passage
  • 23. Fire trap - the oil here ignites when crossed, draining helath and for some reason mana. Inserting the Iron Flute in the niche on the left disarms the trap.
  • 24. Blade trap - crossable in lizard form or by secret passage at 25
  • 25. Passage past blade trap - the entrance is through a door that looks just like a wall panel
  • 26. Rolling boulder trap - stick to the east side in lizard form to dodge
  • 27. Jkar niches - place the three Jkar Idols here to activate the bridge to 28
  • 28. Elevator to the arena on the bottom floor - put three Lamplight corpses on and step on it to continue

Level 3 passages

  • G. Connects the Path of Trials to the main temple complex
  • H. Hallway of fire
  • J. To the Path of Life
  • K. To the Path of Balance
  • L. To the Path of Death

Level 4 locations

  • 29. Room of pillars - several vials of Dragon's Blood are lying around. The fall to the bottom is typically deadly, but can be survived from less than the maximum heigt; there's nothing to be found here except the spiral staircases back to the top
  • 30. Switches, apparently without function
  • 31. Ledge of lightning - several chain sparks are flying around, igniting torches
  • 32. Jkar Idol, 3 Healing Scrolls - pick up the idol last if you want the scrolls
  • 33. Tilting plateau puzzle - activate 4 switches (2 on both walls) by manipulating weight using Lamplight corpses
  • 34. Jkar Idol, 3 Stroke Daggers, 10 pieces of Amber and 10 clumps of Gorgonite Nodules - pick up the idol last if you want the items
  • 35. Fire Phantasms - shoot a Mists of Doom spell at the skulls to temporarily deactivate the flames
  • 36. 3 Switches that lower the bridge at 37, as well as 3 Mists of Doom scrolls
  • 37. Bridge to 38
  • 38. Jkar Idol - there's a hidden niche behind the banner containing a Recipe Scroll (Death Sac) and another hidden niche with 2 Guardian Orbs and the Noble Valkyrie Crossbow. Pick up the idol last if you want them.

Level 4 passages: J, K and L all lead back to the Path of Trials

Level 5 locations

  • 39. Arena - the Second Hive Lord is fought here
  • 40. Teleporter to the Savage Jungle, near the entrance of the temple
  • 41 The Chamber of Voices - entering without the Dreamstone will mean death. Take the stone and put it in the pedestal to raise the City of the Ancients and move on to the final Sphere

Notes and Trivia[]

  • The triad of Life, Balance and Death is foreshadowed in the Huline Ruins, with the three traps at the bottom mirroring the ones at the Path of Trials behind the three separate Paths. They are ordered Death (fire), Life (spinning blades circumvented by a secret passage containing no danger at all) and Balance (rolling boulder halted by switches to the left and right). Savvy players can gather the information they need to navigate the Temple traps as early as the Ruins.
  • It's also accented by the three Paths and the kind of treasure lying around:
    • Path of Death: fire/lava, skull phantasms, Mists of Doom scrolls, Noble Valkyrie Crossbow (Fire) and recipe for Death Sacs
    • Path of Life: wooden pillars that are no threat in themselves, Dragon's Blood, sparks bringing torches to life, Healing Scrolls
    • Path of Balance: Tilting plateau, switches to the left and right, Gorgonite Nodules and Amber (both useless and thus neutral in themselves)
  • The Crystal Shards are aquired from right before a healing pool and by grinding up a dead body, and put on chalices balancing over thin air.
  • Worshipping at the altars of Life and Death will open a niche between them containing the Cat Ring, an item pertaining to Balance (falling).
  • Finally, the Temple features an Aloe room, a Fire hallway and an elevator to the final arena, pertaining to Life, Death and Balance respectively.
